The impact you'll make

As a Mechatronics Engineer at Lam, you're designing, develop, modify and integrate automation and robotic solutions and develop new electro-mechanical concepts for new product lines.

You are responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and assembling components, preparing test plans and supporting testing and validation of products and systems and enhancement of manufacturing, processing or production equipment.

Job Responsibilities

What you'll do

• Participate in all phases of the automation development: requirements, design/analysis, assembly, testing, integration, and volume manufacturing.
• Design and analyze mechanical and mechatronic systems, including motion control and automation.
• Conduct detailed analysis including structural, finite element analysis (FEA), thermal, heat transfer, stress, vibrations, fluid and gas flow dynamics, and manufacturability to properly specify designs.
• Work with cross-functional teams (software, controls, suppliers, manufacturing).
• Developing control systems in close collaboration with software teams.
• Conduct feasibility studies, prototype fabrication, and failure analysis using methods like 5-Why and 8D, characterize and validate design performance.
• Develop control systems hardware, perform PID tuning, and design motion profiles.
• Prepare reports and technical presentations to clearly communicate design intent, evaluation, and validation to a diverse audience in design reviews.
• Create documentation and support lifecycle management of products.
• Ensure documentation aligns with SEMI, Lam standards, and industry best practices for geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
• Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to ensure solutions can be manufactured with high-quality, cost-optimized, and to requirements.

Who we're looking for

Minimum Qualifications

• ​Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics or related field with 5+ years of experience or
• Master's degree in Mechatronics or related field with 3+ years of experience or
• PhD in Mechatronics or related field without experience or
• Equivalent work experience
• Strong knowledge of mechanical and mechatronics principles, motion control, and CAD tools (such as Solid Edge, NX, Creo and others).
• Excellent communication, both written and verbal, and technical presentation skills.
• Hands-on experimental and design background coupled with solid engineering skills.

Preferred qualifications

• Ability to model robot kinematics and dynamics.
• Experience in Semiconductor industry.
• Familiar with SEMI standards.
• Experience in problem solving while managing time and multiple priorities.
• Programming experience in C, C++, Python.

What We're Offering

This position is subject to the Austrian Collective Bargaining Agreement for employees in the Metal Technology Industries in occupation group E-F, depending on education. A higher payment is negotiable depending on expertise and skills. The monthly salary is paid 14 times per year.
